Formula One CEO Says Women Drivers ‘Wouldn’t Be Taken Seriously’

Formula One racing is an overwhelmingly male sport (“sport”) — and if it’s up to chief executive Bernie Ecclestone, it’ll stay that way.

Speaking at an event for Advertising Week Europe in London, Ecclestone said, “I don’t know whether a woman would physically be able to drive an F1 car quickly, and they wouldn’t be taken seriously.”

Ah, yes, but of course. Women’s feet are far too delicate to step on a gas pedal and their upper-arm strength is barely sufficient to move a steering wheel ever so slightly.

At the same event, Ecclestone stated that Vladimir Putin should “just be in charge” of Europe and that immigrants have not made a contribution to Europe. Great work all around.
