Like a wise parent discussing a petulant 3-year-old, Hillary Clinton on Sunday told NBC’s Chuck Todd that she would talk to Bernie Sanders “when he’s ready to talk.”

After discussing the list of demands Sanders will probably bring to the Democratic convention in July — including getting rid of superdelegates and opening all primary contests to independents — Todd asked Clinton if she’d be willing to take his asks into account, “if that’s what it takes to get him onboard.”

“Well, certainly, we’re going to talk with him when he’s ready to talk,” she replied. “And we will take into account what he is asking for. I think that’s part of the process.”

To those of us who’ve been on the receiving end of a grocery-store tantrum or a dinnertime fit, her message is clear: When Bernie is finished whining about the “rigged system” (which mostly consists of disparities the Sanders’s campaign knew about going into the race), Hillary will be ready and willing to talk out their differences.

Clinton added, “When it’s time, I am reaching out to do my part to try to unify the party. I expect him to do the same.” Let’s all be adults here, shall we?
