Spencer Tunick, the artist known for his sprawling installations that consist of nude bodies, is bringing his work to Cleveland in July for the Republican National Convention.
Though he usually utilizes models of both sexes, for this project he’s just enlisting women. Everything She Says Means Everything will include 100 naked women holding mirrors that reflect back at passersby. “The mirrors communicate that we are a reflection of ourselves and the world that surrounds us,” he tells Esquire.
This has been in the works since 2013, but Donald Trump’s foray into the race — and his immense success all while repeatedly spewing vile rhetoric against women — only heightens the relevance of this project. “I have two daughters—9 and 11—and I want them to grow up in a progressive world with equal rights and equal pay and better treatment for women,” Tunick says.
It’s an admirable statement, but something tells us that Trump — and the rest of the convention’s attendees — won’t quite get the nuance.
