Andy Cohen, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Donna Karan all gathered at Pier Sixty on Monday to celebrate the graduates of Parsons’s fashion-design program. They also picked up some awards of their own before the show — Karan, Parker, Arianna Huffington, and Beth DeWoody were all honored for their influence in the arts, as well as their dedication to social change.
But the pièce de résistance was the fashion show, which featured Marie Antoinette minidresses, an almost Shop Jeen–inspired poncho with rubber duckies, and a massive white-knit dress with a 3-D polar-bear face attached to its back.
“I just love what the schools are doing to encourage experimentation and failure along the way and challenging the status quo,” Arianna Huffington said of the show. “There isn’t a kind of ‘doctrine’ approach to fashion where these are the hemlines and these are the colors. There’s much more individuality.” Click ahead to see the garment bags, deconstructed suits, and tulle tent dresses.
