Man Marries Phone to Make a Statement About Society, But It’s Actually a Pretty Good Idea

Your phone is always by your side — for better or worse, in sickness and in health, till getting left in the back of a cab do you part. So it’s no surprise that one man decided to go all the way and marry his beloved hunk of plastic.

Aaron Chervenak wed his phone on May 20 at the Little Las Vegas Chapel, though the marriage is not legally recognized by the state of Nevada.

In a video that includes footage of the ceremony, Chervenak mused, “If we’re gonna be honest with ourselves, we connect with our phones on so many emotional levels. We look to it for solace, to calm us down, to put us to sleep, to ease our minds, and to me, that’s also what a relationship is about.”

“So, in a sense, my smartphone has been my longest relationship,” he added. “That’s why I wanted to see what it was like to actually marry a phone.” Whoa.

“At first it was like what?” chapel owner Michael Kelly told KTNV. “And then I was like … alright let’s do it.”

While he may have executed this stunt in an attempt to force us to reflect upon like, society, man, we’re going to go ahead and say we’re fully on board with phone marriages. Who else could ever know us better and keep us so fully entertained?
