Currently, female emoji are limited to thrilling options like bride, princess, dancer, bunny ears, and information-desk person. That’s changing soon: Apple announced that it will release more than 100 new and redesigned emoji this fall in iOS 10 that will finally (finally!) include female professionals and athletes.

There will be lady emoji for detectives, police officers, construction workers, as well as runners, swimmers, surfers, basketball players, cyclists, and weight lifters.

We will also have male options for previously female-only emoji like the haircut and head massage, plus single-parent families and a rainbow pride flag. Apple submitted to the Unicode Consortium five more professional emoji — artist, an astronaut, a judge, a pilot, and a firefighter — but it’s unclear when those will be approved.

About two weeks ago, Google announced that a future Android OS will include female versions of 33 existing characters and add 11 new female professional characters. So who’s going to be the first to design the wage-gap emoji?
