Parkour, which is French for “the big jumps,” is an activity that involves leaping between city buildings and other objects for … stunts … or something. It’s safe to say that nobody really knows what parkour is, not even serious parkour practitioners — but we do know that it can go horribly, horribly wrong (a-duh). Take, for instance, this University of Pittsburgh student who needed to be rescued by police when he attempted to impress a date by jumping between two buildings and fell in between them instead.

WTAE reports that the young man fell three stories into a 16- to 18-inch crevice, where he became stuck. His date called 911, and emergency responders worked for several hours to rescue him. Their efforts mostly involved cutting open a wall in a Qdoba, which also impacted the neighboring Bruegger’s Bagels, which will not be forgetting or forgiving him any time soon.

Pittsburgh Public Safety director Wendell Hissrich said, “All in all, I think he was in good shape.” Now that we know he’s safe, it’s time to get to the lesson in all this: Parkour will never get you laid.
