It’s safe to say Charissa Fay has a remarkable understanding of aesthetics. Not only does the New York-based food, travel, and lifestyle photographer exquisitely curate her Instagram feed, but her work graces the pages of esteemed publications.

"Whether it's fashion or photography, I keep things very simple and classic," she explains. "I love clean, classic lines with a small pop of color or a subtle detail that catches your eye."
We caught up with Fay, outfitted in the EILEEN FISHER Fall Icons collection, to determine her definition of icon.
An icon represents a timeless ideal -- he or she is the standard-bearer of a certain way of life that resonates with people around the globe. An icon is a hero who inspires us with their courage, kindness, and imagination to be better people.
One of my icons is Edith Wharton. She was an unusually independent woman and creative force who lived according to her own rules. A savvu New Yorker, she had a life as full and rich as any of her fictional characters and she did it in high style.
Anne Frank is also an icon whose honest and poignant observations still resonate deeply in today's world. She continues to teach us about tolerance, compassion, and having an open heart.
In my everyday life, my "icons" are my two daughters -- they represent my hopes and dreams for the future, so I try to be the best version of myself that I can be for them. They absolutely make me a better person. They also see that I’m human and make mistakes, but that I’ll always aim to be kind, and curious, and engaged with the world around me.
