In the wake of the ongoing drama surrounding the divorce of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, there’s been no shortage of speculation and analysis as to what caused the breakup. Yet, with each rumor that surfaces (or is discredited), there remains the question of how each actor will handle the details of their divorce moving forward. Jolie has had her lawyer and team in place since she first filed for divorce on Monday. And now, Pitt has settled on the counsel of a popular Hollywood attorney, Lance Spiegel, who’s handled his fair share of celebrity breakups, including those of Russell Simmons, Heather Locklear, Charlie Sheen, and Eva Longoria.
Spiegel joined Pitt’s team on Thursday, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported on the story. E! News also followed suit later. Spiegel will be able to lend his family-law experience to Pitt’s current team, which includes lawyer Alan Hergott and his manager Cynthia Pett, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Pitt and Jolie rank among the most famous celebrity couples of all time but things could easily take a turn for the worse depending on how each actor’s team frames the situation. It already seems that Jolie’s team came out swinging with a better, more well-crafted PR strategy than Pitt’s. Now with Pitt assembling his legal and PR team, it’s only a matter of time before there’s another spin on the breakup and Pitt’s parenting capabilities.
