Watch Grace Coddington in the Trailer for the New Tiffany Documentary

For her first creative role after leaving Vogue, Grace Coddington partnered with Tiffany & Co. to create the brand’s first celebrity ad campaign, dressing Lupita Nyong’o, Elle Fanning, Christy Turlington Burns, and Natalie Westling in the brand’s fall designs. While she worked, the Oscar-nominated, Emmy-winning filmmaker R.J. Cutler (of The September Issue fame) captured her creative process. The resulting documentary, titled Some Style Is Legendary, premieres on Tiffany.com tomorrow.

In the film’s trailer, shared exclusively with the Cut, Coddington sifts through a drawer of colored pencils to find the brand’s quintessential hue. “Blue is a very extraordinary color,” she says. “It’s a very positive color. I always say, Why do I love New York? It’s because the sky’s always blue.”

“The film is all about Grace’s process,” Cutler said of making the film. “There aren’t many people who after scaling great heights in their careers decide to take on new challenges, change it up, and do all sorts of new things. Grace is one of those people, and here was an opportunity to tell that story in the environment of this revered, iconic American brand.”
