Kelly Clarkson, as she will readily tell you, did not have the kind of blissful pregnancies that mothers dream of having. What she did have, instead, were two pregnancies that were full of nausea and morning sickness so bad she had to be hospitalized during both, according to E! News. Which is why Clarkson has taken some proactive steps to ensure that she’s quite likely never getting pregnant again. On Thursday, she announced on The Jenny McCarthy Show on SiriusXM that she made her husband, Brandon Blackstock, get a vasectomy following her second pregnancy. And for added measure, she also got her tubes tied. Just in case.

“I was literally pregnant with Remi [her second child], and I was like, ‘You are getting fixed,’” Clarkson said on the show. “This will never happen to me again. If something happens, it’s a miracle of God. I literally told my ob-gyn on the table while open, ‘If I get pregnant again, I will find you!’”

When speaking about her experiences being pregnant, Clarkson didn’t hold back, either. She said she thought that her second pregnancy couldn’t be as bad as the first, but as luck would have it, it was. “It’s horrible. Nothing is beautiful, nothing is magical,” Clarkson said about her pregnancy. “Whatever, you’re that person that gets that pregnancy, good for you. But I will remind my children every day of their lives what I [went through].”
