Paid Story: See how this LBD from Topshop at Nordstrom takes style blogger Tania Sarin from sunrise to sundown.
Between attending fashion-industry events, orchestrating her own photo shoots, and keeping up with her tight-knit circle of friends and family, Tania Sarin’s days are nonstop. Together with Topshop at Nordstrom, the Cut presents a three-part series documenting how the L.A. style blogger transitions her look from a.m. to p.m. without slowing down.
While Sarin is partial to streamlined, head-to-toe black, today she’s taking a more imaginative approach to the scheme with an experimental combination of pieces. Starting with an asymmetric-hem midi dress, the entrepreneur layers on an unexpected topper: an oversized hoodie punctuated with silver-grommet-laden cutouts. Swathed in flowing crêpe beneath a fashion-forward sweatshirt, she’s the epitome of a cool, laidback social-media star. Chunky platform boots complete the punkish look and keep it out of too-casual territory.
The former professional stylist says, “I left styling and turned to blogging for creative freedom.” To that end, she picks her shoot locations, styles herself (hair and makeup included), and often edits her own photos. It seems it’s this creative thinking that’s won her so many fashion-loving fans — and makes it possible for her to churn out compelling looks like this one. For a ’90s-inspired “trendy twist,” as she calls it, Sarin ties the hoodie around her waist for a few shots. She notes that the addition of sleek sunglasses counters any overt goth vibes.
The most ingenious trick Sarin’s showcased all day is wearing a virtually ready-to-go outfit as the foundation of her first look. With little time to get dressed allover again before a scene-y fashion affair, the blogger gets ready in double-time by cleverly accessorizing around her original frock. Her tweaks — including swapping in a heeled sandal and adding a swipe of dark lipstick — elevate the already-strong style for what Sarin describes as “a classy evening look.” All set, she speeds off to one of the city’s most impressive hotels for an evening that promises to blend business and fun.
