Of the 35 labels in the MaxMara stable, Sportmax is perhaps the best known after the original line. Created in 1969 by founder Achille Mara, it’s geared toward younger shoppers with its silk party dresses and deconstructed tops. A lower-priced line, it follows in the house’s tradition of selling luxury to women who can’t—or won’t—pay high-fashion prices.
