Donna Karan entered her blue period for her latest collection — at least for the first half — and models turned hippies traipsed down the runway in relaxed, flowing dresses (and even flat sandals) in mesmerizing shades of indigo. Karan’s prime focus was “to turn the sensuality and ease of a hand-blocked scarf into a chic urban wardrobe of day-into-night options,” and her adoration of the earthy and artisanal translated perfectly with sheer, scarflike skirts with thigh-high splits, flowy maxi-dresses covered in geometric block prints, and thick leather belts slung onto the relaxed looks, which contributed to the bohemian “desert lady” motif. The rest of her color selection followed suit with camels, sun-baked rusts, and warm reds. Also notable: those clunky, worn-down leather hats that look broken in from long adventures out in the sun — or just like the magical Sorting Hat in Harry Potter.
