Show Notes

Cut Pick ★

It’s impossible to watch a Jenny Packham show without imagining Kate Middleton, the designer’s most famous patron, wearing everything in it. Indeed, today’s collection was as sparkly and princessy as ever, with yards of billowing, candy-colored fabric trimmed with delicate beading and crystals. And while the dresses were fantastical, they were also sophisticated, with low-cut backs, pearl buttons, and pleated detailing at the hips. Perhaps to dissuade us from imagining the Duchesses’ head on every look, the models had wildly teased, slightly curled hair and dabs of eyeshadow,  surely the result of Packham’s inspiration -- the 1975 art film “Picnic at Hanging Rock,” by Australian director Peter Weir.
