Cut Pick ★

Prabal Gurung chose Marilyn Monroe’s last sitting with Bert Stern and the “preservation” of elegant women as inspirations, so it makes sense the models were displayed behind plastic curtains before they walked. This gave everyone a chance to examine technical details – PVC harnesses, pleats on wiggle dresses and trousers, cool shoulder seams on a satin bomber Karlie Kloss walked in – that were key to the collection. Off-the-shoulder satin dresses nailed home the 1950s vibe, as did ladylike pastels in mint and pink. The latter contrasted with grass green bustiers and bright blue tweed, not to mention the clashing patterns and fluorescent lights throughout. The beauty was straightforwardly editorial: matte neon lips and slicked-back hair. Just watch Allison Williams, in the audience, try this new look.
