Calmer Pursuits

A leisure-filled itinerary from Yasmin Tayeby, director of Cairo music firm Nile Promotions.

1. Lounge at Al-Azhar Park. Out near the Citadel, Cairo’s largest green space has 360-degree city views, plus cafés and picnic-ready grassy areas.

2. Brunch at white-tented Sequoia (53 Abou El Feda St., Zamalek; 02-2735-0014), where ritzy Cairenes nosh and sip cocktails while overlooking the Nile.

3. People-watch at the Marriott courtyard (16 Saray El Gezira St.). While most of Cairo’s hotels have taken a turn for the desolate, this one continues to bustle with tourists and Egyptians.

4. Catch a show at the Jazz Club (197 26th of July St., Agouza; 02-2345-9939). The venue offers table service and musical acts ranging from hip-hop D.J.’s to traditional Arab bands.
