Canyon Ranch, its Berkshire neighbor a
mile up the road, may be more glamorous, but the
Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health is more New Age
university than vacation destination. The 35-year-old
center offers an impressive roster of weekend yoga
workshops ranging from the intense—Bikram (or
“hot” yoga) seminars and workshops devoted
to difficult arm-balancing poses and
inversions—to the gentle, including
beginners’ and restorative yoga (you spend a lot
of time lying on a mat).
