trip right now? Hey, that's why God invented Vermont. Burlington is just
over an hour by plane or a six-hour road trip from New York.
To cement the deal, ski areas are putting together some irresistible discount
packages for the coming season.
Stowe, which is about 45 minutes from the Burlington airport, is offering
New York skiers a phenomenal deal that includes three nights' lodging
in any of 30 or so hotels from budget to luxury a rental
car for four days, various ski-pass options, and a round-trip ticket from
JFK to Burlington on JetBlue (800-24-stowe; prices are still being finalized,
but expect starting packages to be very close to $275).
Another option is Stowe's "Ski and Stay" package, which includes a slopeside
room at the Inn at the Mountain and a free night-skiing pass with the
purchase of a multi-day lift ticket for $99 a day. Finally, buy a ski
pass for four or more days, and Stowe will toss in a group skiing or snowboarding
At nearby Sugarbush, the "Ski the Valley" lift-lodge package includes
accommodations at any of thirteen local B&Bs, condos, and inns plus
flex passes that give skiers access to all three of the area's mountains:
Sugarbush's Lincoln Peak and Mount Ellen, plus Mad River Glen. Free transportation
is provided between resorts, and rates start at $65 per person per day
