See London from the water. Pack a picnic lunch with supplies from gourmet deli Food Hall (374-378 Old St., 20-7729-6005) in Shoreditch and then rent a handmade wooden punt from East London Boats ($29 per hour). The shallow, poled boats fit six and have been used since medieval times to transport goods and people through the city’s waterways. (Call 24 hours ahead to secure someone else to “chauffeur” your punt for an extra $19 an hour.) In the afternoon, take the Thames Clippers ferry from Tower Pier to Greenwich Pier ($8.25 each way) to finish the day with a few waterside pints. The beautifully restored, Regency-style Trafalgar Tavern is a 170-year-old pub once frequented by Charles Dickens.
