Every Sunday night, the Family Disco spins hits from the seventies through today and lets kids rock out with their parents. Located upstairs at the Jack Rose restaurant in midtown, the disco, open from 5:30 to 7 p.m. each week, has attracted all sorts of latter-day John Travoltas since it opened in October, including one 8-year-old boy who regularly clears the floor with his moves. A dance instructor is available to help shy kids—and parents—get into the groove. Entry is $12 per person; a second child is free, as are infants.

Where can you find the city’s top dog groomer? Last-minute tailor? Beef tongue? We eat, drink, dance, shop, shvitz, and trampoline our way around the city, not to mention poll scores of in-the-know colleagues, hard-partying friends, opinionated family members, and, this year, a team of guest expert bloggers to bring you answers to all of the above questions, and hundreds more, in the form of our annual “Best of New York” issue.
