    As the recession and enforcement of the cabaret laws have driven dance clubs to near extinction, the Tribeca Grand’s Church Lounge has become the hottest haunt in the city to hear new D.J.’s. Having booked everyone from Belgian “mash-up” auteurs 2 Many DJs to a huge cast of electro luminaries including Tommy Sunshine, Ladytron, and Miss Kittin, promoter Tommie Saleh has proved himself to be a trend-spotter of the highest order. And even if it is a slight drag to catch these grooves off the dance floor, it’s hard to muster complaints about the Church Lounge’s soaring space, stiff drinks, and up-for-it crowds.
