Best Maternity Clothes

  • Veronique

    1321 Madison Avenue, at 93rd St.; 212-831-7800

Lori Solomon is a world-class expert on maternity fashion, an odd achievement for someone who has never been pregnant. But her store, Veronique, which she bought eight years ago from the French maternity chain Veronique Delachaux, is a sanctuary for anyone who is losing her waistline, doubling her bust size, and still hoping to hang out at Soho House. Solomon takes a multi-label approach (unusual for this business), hanging cool Chaiken, Seven, and Earl jeans next to stuff from the grooviest maternity designer of all time, Italy’s Nicol Caramel (maker of fab tie-dye pants with no elastic waistband in sight). Jessica Seinfeld, Veronica Webb, Paula Zahn, and Catherine Zeta-Jones have all stocked up in this store. Indeed, the stuff’s so good you’ll miss it when you eventually shrink back down to a size 6.
