Best Flat Screen TVs

  • Harvey Electronics

    2 West 45th Street, 212-575-5000, harveyonline.com

There are fancier and more personalized stores—Sound by Singer, Innovative Audio Video—but for the best selection of high-quality flat-panel TVs, Harvey is the place, whether you’ve got $500 or $15,000 to spend. The store selects its brands carefully, without being snobbish: You’ll find 15-inch Sharp LCDs mixed in with 50-inch Runco and Fujitsu plasmas. It also sells the home-theater systems—surround-sound receivers and speakers, HD tuners, cables, even an automated “painting” to cover wall-hanging TVs—that you’ll need to take full advantage of these monitors. Flat-screen TVs can be complicated to set up, so Harvey will send a technician to your home to fine-tune picture settings. They’ll install theater seating, too—time to convert that second bedroom?
