Avery Fisher Hall

  • No, I would not go back!

" the boxlike hall possesses acoustics befitting the home of the famed Philharmonic, the Great Performer series, and the Lincoln Center and Mostly Mozart festivals" Surely you jest. Built wide and low, Avery Fisher is well known as an example of how not to design a hall for classical music. The acoustics were rescued a bit by Manfred Schroeder using Cauchy series based dampers, but they are still not very good.
