Sears Tower not the Wold Trade Towers
By bajamary on 12/1/2012
As a correction, the Empire State Building was the tallest building in the world until the Sears Tower in Chicago Illinois was completed in 1973. The Sears Tower was the tallest building in the world, surpassing the World Trade Center towers in New York, and it held this rank for nearly 25 years. The Sears Tower (now called the Willis Tower) is the tallest building in the United States and the seventh-tallest freestanding structure in the world.

The Empire State Building is truly a site to behold. Growing up I was fascinated with this symbol of American power and wasn't able until recently moving to the East Coast was able to not only see it but climb the stairs, making the view even more rewarding...a must experience for all New Yorkers and tourists alike.
