A dreadful experience.

Hands-down the worst place to see live music in New York City, and the worst live-music venue I've ever been to. The sight lines are terrible and, on the second and third levels, virtually nonexistent, unless you get a spot immediately next to the railing. I ended up having to watch the concert on a TV screen. If I'd wanted to watch music on TV, I would have stayed home and watched old episodes of "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert" on YouTube for free. I ended up bailing before the headliner -- a first! -- because I was so miserable. I would not come here again if John Lennon's reanimated corpse played here with Paul McCartney. A horrible, horrible, horrible place.

My favourite venue!

Ok, I could talk for hours about why I love Terminal 5. Seriously. I have been to more concerts at this venue than any other -- for a reason! Instead of ranting and raving, I want to make note of the negative comments made in previous comments, and though most of them are true, they are really just perceived as negative. "You have to get there early if you want a good spot." This is very, very true. However, this is also true with 100% of the concerts I've ever been to. This has nothing to do with the venue, this has to do with every concert. Ever. MOSHING/DRUNKS/IDIOTS/BEING CRUSHED - This is also something to be expected at most concerts, if you go to see anyone semi-famous, especially if their music is more rock or hardcore, but it can happen at pop shows too. It doesn't happen at all shows, but about 90% at least. Again, not venue-specific. "security doesn't care." Um, when /I/ went to see shows there, security was great. They caught crowd surfers and people who passed out, and a few times they HANDED OUT WATER BOTTLES, which was great. I've never had a problem with security. I'm running out of characters but basically, I have never had a bad experience at Terminal 5. Ever. I love it a lot and I'm always happy to go there. I don't want my favourite venue getting a bad rap. Also P.S. if you don't like moshing, you can go to the second or third floor! You might not be as close as you want to be, but you'll probably be able to see better, and avoid getting crushed.

No.

Terminal 5 is only ideal if you've waited outside for hours prior to the show you are seeing. If you are, well, somewhat late - you've got a problem. Picture yourself shoved amongst the allegedly "hip" and too drunk to function. It's somewhat dangerous territory and you find yourself ignoring the music completely - but rather starting the fight for slight personal space and clean clothes. (Be warned, wear nothing expensive or loved and try to bring nothing personal, because beer WILL drench you head to toe towards the end.) My friend and I actually had to leave the venue, for she started to cry due to the possibility of her rid cage collapsing on itself, thanks to the pressure of hoards of drunken idiots gyrating and closing in on her specifically. There is no order - security is seriously careless and the only relief was brought by a member of the band we were seeing, who, had to bring the attention of security to a fight that broke out inches away from where we were standing - which was quite nice. On the other hand, get there early and get to the barricade. Some will fight you for the space - but hold on tight and use your elbows. You've been warned.

disgruntled customer

last night was my first experience at terminal 5 to see hot chip, and it is safe to say i will never go again.security was a joke, we breezed past the ticket takers (i'm not even entirely sure that our tickets were scanned), and made our way into the venue. the crowd is the reason why i will never go back. crammed shoulder to shoulder with mobs of upper west side jerks who were coked up and dancing out of their minds is not how i would describe a good time. i did not pay 75 dollars to get body slammed by adults twice my age and getting wailed in the head by wannabe trendsetters who were too coked up to notice or care about what they were doing. there are many obstructions such as columns and posts, and if you're not careful, you will be smashed up against one for the entirety of the show. please avoid this place if you want to have a good time. it made me hate people, music, and concert venues as a whole. you will be happier staying in your room and listening to your ipod.

What a crappy venue

I am writing this review and Ben Folds is still playing. This is one crappy venue. I would not pay to see another show here, unless I am such a fanatic that i want to get there 2 hours early when the doors open. This place is rated for far more people then it can hold.Thats because of the very large area of obstructed view space. Half the venue has no view of the stage and to add insult to injursy there is no sound in the obstructed areas. You would be better off watching crappy footage on youtube then to be there You would be better off then more then half the people there who cant see or hear shit!!!! Never Never Never go there and if you do think of me while your there!!!!!
