1Oak -- notwithstanding its continual decline in worth -- maintains probably the douchiest crew at the door. I did not sufficiently "move" when asked, which irritated one of the bouncers, who then said "try to get the attention of the host". Even though my friend got bottle service inside, the host ignored me. No bouncer, no one would acknowledge me. Because I did not move two feet. On the sidewalk. Like I said, douches. I spend most of my time at the top clubs in NY -- kiss n fly, pink, etc, -- this club is a complete waste of time.

ive just moved to nyc, and some friends recommended 1oak to me, so me and my gf decided to check it out. when we went it was fashion wk so obviously the door was tight and to top that we got there kind of late (ny standards, which means 12.30...) we had to wait for about 15mins since we didnt have a reservation, but after that the guy at the door came over asked us how many of us were coming and when we said just the 2 of us he let us in. granted u have to look nice, and i guess its tougher for groups of guys unless u get bottle service, but i had heard horror stories about trying to get in and it wasnt that bad! inside the decor was nice, and the crowd was quite euro/fashion industry. we ended up having a great time, although the music got a little bit ghetto-ville towards the end. i would definitely recommend this place, just try not to get there too late!

We planned a party (bachelorette, no less) at 1 Oak. We decided on this club because they assured us we would not have a hard time getting our whole party in if we were dressed appropriately. We confirmed this detail, as well as the general party, multiple times. Yet, we showed up (dressed tastefully with nary a boa or tiara among us), and were not only all denied admission, but the doorman claimed our reservation didn't exist. This was blatantly untrue, as the first person we spoke with that night was clearly expecting us. They could have easily told us to go elsewhere, but they had us come so they could deny us admission in front of the 5 other people in line. Thanks, 1 Oak, for ruining my friend's only bachelorette party. Bottom line: DON'T PLAN AN EVENT HERE UNLESS YOU DON'T CARE IF THE EVENT ACTUALLY HAPPENS.

As inevitably happens, it looks like things have moved on. Getting past the door is a cinch, even for people who aren't me. This place is full of B&T kiddies and haggard bankers attempting to flash what's left of their dwindling cash. The music is HORRIBLE these days. It's way too loud and the dj can't mix to save his life. The waitresses are also considerably less fine than they used to be. All this in fashion week no less. Ugh. The design of the place is still great but it could use new management with a better black book to revitalize it. Until that happens, avoid it like the plague.

If you're looking for a night club dark enough to hide insecurity and imperfections, and pricey enough to make the most level headed person cringe, then your mother ship has returned. It was easy enough to get in, but it should be since I'm actually of age, unlike the teenagers smoking pot in and outside the club. The music was the only redeeming quality, but it was lost for me. Standing in the middle of the dance floor, looking around at the middle-aged men fondling young new jersey girls listening to a mix of michael jackson's "thriller" and justin timberlake's "love stoned," I thought of the irony. Two songs looped together, one popular when half of the people in the club were getting their driver licenses and one a number one hit while the others were choosing colleges. But this is the life of the party, unfortunately they did it right. It's a club. But a club is a club is a club.

After getting grilled by the door man and making it past the barrage of bouncers I noticed how visually stunning this club is. The decor, the over-priced $20 cocktails, and the quintessential over played dance songs might actually be worth it while the club remains white hot. Although I don't suspect (or hope) you'll be seeing this club on 'Club Planet' anytime soon try not to fall into the "It" club hoax. If you're not going to spend $2,000 on a table don't expect the velvet ropes to part ways especially if you're not in the "know". I'll admit my fair share of celebrity sightings at 1 Oak but it's hardly worth the hassle especially at the door.

I dont really see where the review below come from: there are more celebrities or celebs wannabe in this place than financial workers. Good DJ playing very classic songs. Much space, finally a place where you can dance. Good vibe.

This is a total cheeeese hut. 1 Joke prides itself as low-key, but it's overdone and stale. As expected it's all about financial workers and B&Ts just like every other club in the area. (I know because the traders from my company love it!) They make posseurs think they're getting in 'cuz they have style, but inside the waitresses swarm like strippers. BORING. Over before it's even started.
