Not sure why this place is so hyped. Crowd looks like any other NYC club crowd with a college feel. In my opinion, this club had a "commercial crowd" with too many sloppy people. I was looking for a unique feel but it seemed just ordinary. Not my scene..!

maybe go to this one. Read many scathing reviews, but I would hardly consider this place contentious. Yes, its going to be annoying; yes, you are going to be made to wait in line/possibly ignored based on your appearance/made to spend $$$ on bottles; and yeah, people are going to be drunk. Guys, its a club in manhattan. Thank you Educat (9/12), for the comparison of the rent in your neighborhood to the estimated salaries of the doormen who turned you away. This is both appropriate and helpful within the scope of this discussion**. I really haven't been here in a while, but I remember a fairly classic club with good aesthetics, attractive women and a good girl:guy ratio. I had a great time and feel like this club is less terrible than the alternatives. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **What is wrong with you?

I dont really see where the review below come from: there are more celebrities or celebs wannabe in this place than financial workers. Good DJ playing very classic songs. Much space, finally a place where you can dance. Good vibe.

After getting grilled by the door man and making it past the barrage of bouncers I noticed how visually stunning this club is. The decor, the over-priced $20 cocktails, and the quintessential over played dance songs might actually be worth it while the club remains white hot. Although I don't suspect (or hope) you'll be seeing this club on 'Club Planet' anytime soon try not to fall into the "It" club hoax. If you're not going to spend $2,000 on a table don't expect the velvet ropes to part ways especially if you're not in the "know". I'll admit my fair share of celebrity sightings at 1 Oak but it's hardly worth the hassle especially at the door.

ive just moved to nyc, and some friends recommended 1oak to me, so me and my gf decided to check it out. when we went it was fashion wk so obviously the door was tight and to top that we got there kind of late (ny standards, which means 12.30...) we had to wait for about 15mins since we didnt have a reservation, but after that the guy at the door came over asked us how many of us were coming and when we said just the 2 of us he let us in. granted u have to look nice, and i guess its tougher for groups of guys unless u get bottle service, but i had heard horror stories about trying to get in and it wasnt that bad! inside the decor was nice, and the crowd was quite euro/fashion industry. we ended up having a great time, although the music got a little bit ghetto-ville towards the end. i would definitely recommend this place, just try not to get there too late!

Hands down one of the best nightclubs in the city. Its not big but the door is very selective so its never get too packed. 1OAK is the only party that last till 5:00 in the morning and still poppin. Beautiful girls, good hip hop music and you can easily spots celebrities sitting next to you. The best nights are Sunday, Tuesday and Saturday. I work with the best clubs in the city and can help with table reservations and guest lists at over 30 venues. Hit me up if you need any recommendation 347-822-2175 or email me at NYclubing@gmail.com

This club is just amazing if you like rap/hip hop music you will love it. It starts late so go there after 2am then you will love it. They are really picky at the door but thanks to Indi we got in without problem and he took care of us all night long and gave us free drinks all the time. This guy is the best, you should contact him on his facebook: Indi Romero. He is also working in many others venues of the city!
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
