Not sure why this place is so hyped. Crowd looks like any other NYC club crowd with a college feel. In my opinion, this club had a "commercial crowd" with too many sloppy people. I was looking for a unique feel but it seemed just ordinary. Not my scene..!

I dont really see where the review below come from: there are more celebrities or celebs wannabe in this place than financial workers. Good DJ playing very classic songs. Much space, finally a place where you can dance. Good vibe.

After getting grilled by the door man and making it past the barrage of bouncers I noticed how visually stunning this club is. The decor, the over-priced $20 cocktails, and the quintessential over played dance songs might actually be worth it while the club remains white hot. Although I don't suspect (or hope) you'll be seeing this club on 'Club Planet' anytime soon try not to fall into the "It" club hoax. If you're not going to spend $2,000 on a table don't expect the velvet ropes to part ways especially if you're not in the "know". I'll admit my fair share of celebrity sightings at 1 Oak but it's hardly worth the hassle especially at the door.

ive just moved to nyc, and some friends recommended 1oak to me, so me and my gf decided to check it out. when we went it was fashion wk so obviously the door was tight and to top that we got there kind of late (ny standards, which means 12.30...) we had to wait for about 15mins since we didnt have a reservation, but after that the guy at the door came over asked us how many of us were coming and when we said just the 2 of us he let us in. granted u have to look nice, and i guess its tougher for groups of guys unless u get bottle service, but i had heard horror stories about trying to get in and it wasnt that bad! inside the decor was nice, and the crowd was quite euro/fashion industry. we ended up having a great time, although the music got a little bit ghetto-ville towards the end. i would definitely recommend this place, just try not to get there too late!
