Really fun rooftop even in the winter
By johnberger45 on 1/9/2013
Came here on a Tuesday evening with some friends from out of town. The place was full but not packed. Had the warm hot ciders on the rooftop. They provide these red coats for guests to wear in the cooler months very nice touch. Really great place to see a beautiful view of the Manhattan Skyline.

Good way to make an impression on out of city visitors out for beverages and a wonderful view of New york. Expensive and water fallen beverages but the beach is like a exotic isle and the penthouse living room has plenty of sitting without having to buy container service. No cover and very short delay is the best part of this position.
Red Robes, Rooftop, Raspberry Mojito!

Need I say more than my subject? Yes the robes make us all look like we've entered some "snuggy convention". ITS COOL and quite thoughtful, especially on cold windy nights, and totally necessary if you're wearing a sexy little dress on the rooftop. YES rooftop, the view is to die for. It does get pretty crowded, I've been there on the weekend and at corporate functions during the week. I prefer going during the week when there is no line, but the DJ is really good on the weekend. No dance floor but with enough raspberry mojitos, me and my girls were still strutting our stuff up there :) Overall on the right night, this is the place to go.

huge place lots of trees and plans and beautiful people

think this is my absolute new favorite place in the city. The view is awesome. The place is relaxing, and there is no waiting in line. It is awe-inspiring without being pretentious. The drinks are expensive but hey, with a view like that I wouldn't expect anything less for a gorgeous rooftop deck. During the winter they heat the patio, but during the summer this place is just perfect. Great place to host a party for sure.

We had a great experience visiting 230 5th on our recent trip to NYC. It was a Thursday night and there was no cover and no wait for the elevator or to be seated on the rooftop patio. Although it was cold and windy, almost every seat has a personal heat lamp and they provide complimentary red robes with hoods to help keep you warm. The red robes give the patio a unique atmosphere - like sitting in the middle of a cult ceremony. The view of the empire state building is awesome but you can't see too much else from the roof given the high walls and plants. The patio was full of people - mostly couples and small groups. There didn't seem to be much socializing going on and there is no dance floor. We ordered a couple of drinks and the service wasn't fast but not too slow either. After hanging out on the roof for a bit, we went down to the lounge to warm up. It was pretty empty but the window tables were marked reserved. We settled down at a table in the middle but still had a great view over the city. No waitresses ever stopped by but we already had a drink so we didn't care. I definitely recommend checking this place out for drinks and a great view - at least on a week night!
