Love this bar!
By klg23 on 11/8/2008
A lot of people have written poor reviews of 230 Fifth and honestly I don't understand why... This place has amazing views, and a great crowd and if you come early enough waiting to get in is not a problem--plus there's no cover! It's true the drinks are expensive, but I've never had a problem with them being watered down. If you're looking for a hip, well dressed crowd, and a bar with ambiance then I would definitely recommend this place! It is probably my favorite bar in all of NYC!
DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR -- they are RACIST
By Nilsa_Lugo on 10/29/2008
I have never, ever been so turned off by a bar in my life. I was invited to the bar to celebrate my friends birthday. My friend was there waiting and purchased a 3 bottle service (over $900). We arrived, and the bouncers asked us were we on a guest list. I explained, we are there for a party. He said, unless we purchased a bottle service, we could NOT get in. I explained my friend upstairs had purchased bottles. His next excuse was it was TOO CROWDED so we had to wait. We waited patiently, and noticed the bouncer allowing in others (white crowds), all latinos, blacks and other races were being pushed aside to wait. NONE of the people they let in were asked the questions we were asked (guest list, bottle service) and NONE were told it was too crowded. I am going to call the better business bureau and report this place, I have video to prove what took place that night. The bouncers should all be FIRED for racism. I let the bouncers know I would NOT spend a dime of my well earned money there.. they did NOT deserve our business!!!

I understand its the happening place right now, however that does not give anyone the right to treat people so disrespectful. I will never set foot in that place ever again and if anyone else whats to have a good time I don't recomend that place. The Jerk at the door should be fired if you want to keep in business.
Nice view poor service

Can't deny it, it is a cool space and terrace with an extraordinary view of the Empire State. So go have a drink there when you have visitors from out of town. I was there on Saturday and the waitress was rude and tackier than the plush tiger at the entrance. Better staff and one gay night during the summer would make this place rock and people wouldnt mind paying for their pricy drinks. It has potential. Great service would give it a 10, so the 5 points I give it is for the space and the view.
Worst Experience Ever

I have lived in NYC for 11 years and never have I been treated so poorly. I went here with two of my gfs. We are well dressed, good looking NYC girls. They said there was a slim chance we were getting in b/c we weren't getting bottle service, yet the white girls behind us got in with no problem even though they weren't getting bottle service. Hmm, is it b/c I am Indian and the two friends I was with were Indian and Chinese? When I called the bouncer out it, he actually said "It's not necessarily b/c you're not white." NOT NECESSARILY?? So there's the possibility? Awesome. This place should not exist.
dont bother wasting ur time

I went to 230 Fifth ave this past saturday and the service me and my friends received was horrible to say the least. The drinks are overpriced to begin with but I get it, you are paying for the view. At 11 oclock, my friends were online waiting to get in & after an hour waiting, they were told to buy 2 bottles or get off the line. We had just bought a bottle upstairs waiting fpr these group of friends so we got the manager to tellhim that. At first he said he would let them in if they bought 1 bottle...once they were in, he told them they had to buy 2 and they couldn't even get their own table..they had to squish into ours... THe manager, Steve, is an a***ole. He was disrespectful and rude. . Then in the middle of the night while we were dancing, the waiter cleans our table and takes our bottles away while they were still half full....the service sucked...the food and drinks are overpriced...the only nice thing was the view. I would never step foot in that place again....

I went there for the first time this Saturday, and I got to say I was impressed. I love the design ... I love the whole view. The leopard in the lobby was cool lol ... The music and the atmosphere was great. It might be just a tab pricey but for a place like that its worth it. Defiantly a place to check out!
not know,maybe later!

Worst Customer Service

This establishment has employed the rudest people that I have ever encountered. Curt, crass, cursing, and altogether abrasive, unless you enjoy being screamed at I would never go to this bar.
Absolute Worst Club in Manhattan
By Vanderbilt32 on 7/12/2008
i would never go back to this club. Even for the Manhattan scene, the bouncers are severely pretentious meanwhile wearing H&M suits. The drinks are very watered down and the decor is a hideously purple. The best this club has to offer is the view and no offense but any respectable East Sider can offer the same luxury up on a silver platter. Overall, I will never subject myself to such an awful club again and I STRONGLY suggest you do the same.
