The 230 Fifth Garden is probably one of the best outdoor bars in the city. It is one the largest outdoor bars you can actually walk around, watch people and pick who you want to mingle with. During the warm climate months is always filled with professional and college types. Selection of beers is pretty small 3 to be exact. But full bar selection. Atmosphere is comfortable and casual and being on 5th and 27th your close to more bars to wander around to. Great place for groups and conversation

Phenomenal views of the city!!! Honestly one of the best I have seen. I came here after a very nice dinner at Eataly. It's a very nice bar which is located on 5th Ave. It's right near the subway, and well worth it. You have 2 choices to drink at. The bar/lounge inside ,and outside . You can only enjoy the view outside, so I suggest you go up there. They offer heaters and robes on colder nights. They recently got their palm trees in again this past weekend! There are a bunch of chairs, benches and tables where you can lounge at while sipping your cocktails. You have an awesome awesome view of all the major buildings in NY, This is a great place to unwind from a long day at the office. We stayed for about an hour or so just soaking up the views, talking and taking photos. Drinks here are a bit steep, but it evens out once you take a look out onto the deck. It's very worth it. (Meaning.... PREGAME!) There is a dress code so no hats, That was a killer for me...

This is a great place to visit during the evening/night. You'll be in love with the great views of the city this venue has to offer! The particular night I visited, we didn't have to pay a cover and the drinks were priced accordingly...The quality of everything was impressive as well. Do be aware that there is an enforced dress code at the entrance. While its definitely not white shirt and tie affair, its more of a trendy, semi formal place. This place was nice for meeting people too...There wasn't music being blasted in all directions so you're able to actually have conversations with people! I really loved my time visiting this venue! I would also like to note that I came here during the summer...the whole atmosphere is probably much different during the winter...
nice crowd mix of people

Probably my favorite rooftop bar in NYC. Awesome views of the Empire and Chrysler . I like the crowd here - for some reason, a lot of foreigners come here, out of towners, etc. with a mix of some local folks. I've always met or spoken to some interesting people here. No cover, which is a plus. Plenty of tables and seating. Drinks are decently priced. And their finger food such as the fries and calamari taste fresh. Actually prefer week nights here, it's less packed and little more chilled out. They do enforce the dress code here. So if you look sloppy don't bother and ID is required even if you think you look older than 21 years old. Overall cool place.

its a very cool spot to show off to friends and family who are visiting nyc. On the weekends its a big pick up joint, with lots of hot men and women. The nice thing about this place is you can come early on a fri or sat and its busy with a nice vibe and leave before it gets to crazy. For a guy him is 40's I dont find many places i can go to 7 or 8 pm on a saturday night thats not a restaurant so this is a good choice. drinks are 9-12 dollars but typical for any NY venue thats not a dive bar. The view is relaxing and good for taken pictures with visitors.

This place is nice if you are looking for a fun night out. It is not difficult to get in at all if you are dressed up. The drinks were super expensive (like all trendy places in the city) but the service was fast and and our waitress was very friendly. My friend and I sat at a nice table on the deck and the views were incredible. The music was okay, mostly 80's which isn't what I would listen to normally but it's fine at a bar. The waitress informed us that they do have a dj on Friday and Saturday nights. The only bad thing was that later on (towards 3am) the crowd started getting sketchier/uglier, so I would recommend leaving around then. Overall a fun night!

We had a reservation for 12 people this past Saturday night. It was my girlfriends 28th birthday. We didn't have to wait even a second. The doorman was very pleasant and welcomed us to the lounge. They had a hostess waiting at the door to walk us up to our table. We checked our coats and it was free that's a nice touch. (we obviously tipped) When we got to the top floor there was a host waiting there as well , Walked us right to the table with a beautiful view of the city. We felt like VI P's and the DJ was really great. Wish they had some sort of cake they could have sold us but hey, its my fault for not looking into that before we got there. In short they had everything ready for this special evening. No Hassle getting in (the girls and guys were dressed up that's for sure) and had our table and bottles ready. DJ rocked all night good mix and nice vibe. Will def come back for my birthday.

I remember the day I told my girlfriends I didn't want to go out April 17th 2009. They told me they would be really upset if i didn't come out, so I ended up making it out to 230 Fifth's rooftop. After about 20 minutes or so I asked a handsome gentleman to take a picture of us with the Empire state building in the backround that you feel like you can almost reach out and touch it. And this man is my love of my life husband. We try to frequent the rooftop as often as we can and chat about the first night we met. We were sitting next to a loving couple one evening, and asked them how they met. And believe it or not they said they met on this rooftop as well! what are the chances! Sorry to bore you with my story but in short. This is truly an amazing rooftop with really beautiful views of the manhattan skyline. And a great romantic place to have a drink.

Came for my birthday this past Saturday. The DJ was amazing! Seems like a new person a cute hottie. We got 2 bottles of vodka at the door for 10 of us. We didn't have to wait longer than 2 minutes. They were very organized. The doorman handed my credit card and ID to a hot hostess who then walked us up to the 20th floor. They had the table waiting. All mixers were included which was cool. The crowd had a lot of energy, great ratio of men to women. I recommend getting bottle service if you want to be treated like a VIP and esp if you're all guys. A+ to the new DJ!

Went last night it was so beautiful out! perfect night for the rooftop. On our way in we saw Chris Rock he is so funny! He was very cool about us taking pictures with him. We found seating right away. Ordered from the specialty cocktail list it came in a timely manner and our waitress was very sweet. The views and atmosphere was truly amazing especially in a busy city like NYC.
