As a longtime devotee of the late Arqua, I have been a loyal if not terribly frequent follower of Petrarca. My most recent meal here inspired this, my first online review of anything. It is more delicious every time I try it- and it started out well. The owners take great care with the restaurant and the experience of people eating there, but more than that they are having fun. The menu changes are interesting, the wine list has many things to try that you may not know of, and still everything is easy and comfortable. And, the owners' son, who used to play around at Arqua as a little kid, can be seen many nights running things like a relaxed professional. He can stop and talk soccer with neighborhood regulars or treat newcomers like special, very welcome guests. The space is comfortable with warm lighting, clean lines, beautiful windows and just the right vibe of festive and not-too-loud. The service is kind and careful and NOT once have I seen them be rude. Never. Not any time I have been there, to anyone. This restaurant just hits a fine balance of elegance and ease, delicious food and wine in a wonderful space. It is witty and timeless- Petrarca is a fitting name. I highly recommend the seasonal special of caramelized sardines with fresh carrots and the pappardelle with duck ragu. Wines are served by the bottle or by the "quartino"- the bit of Italian wizardry for those of us who want just a little more than a glass.

An impromptu date-night brought us to this cozy corner spot after our usual go-to place had an unusually long wait for a late evening meal. Wow! We were so pleased to have stumbled upon Petrarca. The service was impeccable, the food unbelievable from the rustic antipasto plate of carcuterie to our pasta dishes. Also a plus, Gluten-Free pasta available and might I say the BEST Gluten-Free pasta I have ever had! (just a note, I am Italian and I used to eat real pasta... this is as close as you will get.) To top it off delicious Tiramisu. The wine list is impressive with hand selected reds from all regions of Italy's premiere wine regions. Not sure if they have an in-house sommelier or just an owner with a fine taste for extremely delicious wines. Highly suggest this restaurant and I can't wait to go back again!
