Of course this place has mixed reviews. For some, this is the greatest place, for others... not so much. I think if you want to have a wild night that you will never forget, you will love the box. Yes, the show is grotesque but that is part of it all. Most certainly memorable. I love it there and its a highlight to my month if I get to go (yes it is pricey). Love the staff, the atmosphere is sexy. definitely a place to go at least once.

I've went there and, for the most part, it was ok.I do agree that the staff can be a bit moody, though.

I recently attended the Box. I was escorted out for absolutely nothing with instructions that the manager wished to speak with me. I was left standing in the cold for nearly two hours. I was not disrespectful of the establishment in any way and was not rude to any of the patrons, I was not disorderly. I was simple plucked out because the manager Nov 02 2010, who never spoke with me and obviously felt mine was a night to ruin. I will not be recommending this place to my friends though I feel the performers are excellent. I am an internationally know successful entertainment business owner. I was in a custom suit and the door staff, who remained respectful, described me as one of the best dress persons at the club. I find my treatment by this manager apauling and rude. I intend on making it known that I was treated this way. While waiting for the manager to explain to me why I was expelled into the street I was molested by druggy. My disposable income will not be used to benefit this establishment hence forth.

The doorman is a Douchebag! Firstly, there wasn't anyone in this place! It's completely way overrated the guy at the door wanted $1,000 plus he wanted us to pay for a bottle! The Box doesn't look like a fun place. Actually it's not a fun place. There were no people even around this area, it's was extremely sketchy! The doorman is a douchebag, and he is very desperate!. I would guess judging by the views below it's not worth the money! DO NOT GO TO THE BOX! If the owners were smart they would FIRE the doorman, and hire someone smarter! It's the worst club experience I've ever had in New York City, and I've been living in New York my whole life! The box is a piece of crap! Go anywhere except for The Box!!!

We went to the box for a bachelor party. It cost 1600 for the group. We get to our table, which has no view of the stage. The seats actually face away from the stage, with a huge beam in front of 80% of the view. Staff was rude, deceptive and unaccomodating. A bunch of arrogant idiots running the place. Avoid.

The Box is clearly the craziest place I have been to in NY so far. Sexy, imaginative shows and the people who seemed to frequent this place know how to party. The door is quite strict, but I just had luck on my side the few times i went there. if people have gone here and know similar places please do mention.

burlesque show is hugely disappointing. more like cheap porn. anyone interested in a cool venue, fun bar scene and a well produced burlesque show, go to galapagos art space in dumbo. way more sophisticated.

i walked into the box and watched a transvestite put a dildo up his/her butt, pull it out and eat the condom juice from his/her own behind. ummm, i really saw that. while exhilarated by this performance, i was even more impressed by the next act where a girl had rotating-light-titties in tune to my favorite song on z100. a little alarmed by my surroundings, i turned to a guy (i think) next to me and asked "is this normal?" to which he responded, "this is the box. the BOX. you never know whatcha gonna get." as a first timer, and native new yorker, i was intrigued yet slightly alarmed. but, definitely will go back.

The Box is a guaranteed crazy night. come prepared to have your mind blown a bit by the shows, go wild on an antique couch, hang from one of the balconies box seats, or swing from a pole and be the life of your wee morning hour companions. This place is not for the faint of heart or conservatives for that matter.

This was the worst experience in my life: boring and disgusting show, overpriced drinks and a table with air condition where we were just freezing cold. In total we paid 1,000 Dollars for just being angry about arrogance and incompetence. (I really was in shows around the world but this club honestly is the worst ever - but funny that they compare themselves with Moulin Rouge and further used the word burlesque to describe themselves. Tip to Richard Kimmel: why don't you look these words up before you use them! And: this "show": you can get in Hamburg on the Reeperbahn for 10 Bucks - believe me!)

Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
