A great place to hoist a few and the food is much better than Ms. Liebman said.

I agree with the previous post by Mr. Williams. And remember, an alcoholic is someone you don't like who drinks as much as you do. If you get to know us, you'll agree with Mr. Williams that we are just lushes. Stop by on a Friday when Brian is working, he'll make you feel at home. I'm not sure what "the dinner menu hints at elegance" means, but I don't like the sound of it. The food is very good. Try the sunday brunch menu or one of the specials on a weeknight. The Abbey is good neighborhood place filled with friendly people.

If you want to chill with your friends, this is the place. No one even tries to pick up other people since it's really just a nice relaxing place to sit back and have a beer. And why would anybody want to order wine from The Abbey to begin with - one look at the place and you know this is a beer place.

I've gone to the effort of creating an account on this site so that I can set right some of Shana Liebman's review, which is somewhat misleading. First of all, the house wine is like water--but a tangy, tannic, affordable water! Note that a half carafe of the stuff is a mere $9.50. I'm also hurt that the Liebman chose to refer to those of us who are regulars as people "who ought to be at an A. A. meeting." That's hurtful. We're lushes, not alcoholics, and we're obviously comfortable and happy enough at the Abbey that we choose to spend our leisure time there with one another. Stop by, and we'll make you feel welcome too.
