No one had a problem getting in if they were there for my birthday, and it went so smoothly it was shocking. The parties I throw do not normally go as smoothly as this, and I've thrown quite a few. Overall, you have to check this place out and maybe even throw a party there because you're treated very well, the vibe is a fun, and the atmosphere is one of the most unique in manhattan. You just have to know that you're going to an exclusive establishment, or else you'll end up like the girl below.

After reading the review below, I was hesitant to have my party at Above Allen. HOWEVER, I had my birthday there last week and, though I don't normally blog about places, I felt compelled to since this girl just got it so wrong (and I'm thinking she probably had major attitude, because whenever I leave a bar and am mad at the door guys, it's usually because I was super rude to them too) BOTTOM LINE: it was probably the best birthday ever. The music was great, the vibe was simply fun, and the door guy and our waitresses were soooo helpful! The door guy even came and checked on us throughout the night to make sure we were having fun and everything was OK and the waitress was always there to get us drinks.
Avoid the 7th Floor bar at this place

Went here last night for drinks for a birthday. It was around 9pm and it was three girls. Guy in the lobby by the velvet rope (what a joke) was giving us a hard time about letting us in for a drink. You take the elevator up to the 7th floor where you get more attitude from another guy in front of velvet rope who acts like he's doing you a favor by letting you in. A few more girls joined us later, then two guys. The girls got in with attitude, when the guys came we went to get them and the doorman said 'i already let in so many guys to your party already', when my friend said no you didn't i swear, he called her a liar. Then another wait staff guy came to our table to smooth things over and said b/c the waitress asked me nicely, I'll let you guys stay. My friend said, it's not a privilege for us to stay here and he stomped off in a tiff.
