... but anyone who gives the place less than a 10-point-rating has no taste or is employed by a competitor. Angel's Share is a breath of fresh air among bars in New York. Consistantly the best atmosphere, cocktails and the most fun I've had watching a bartender mix, shake and stir. Zagat got it right, it most definitely deserves its "award of distinction." Dont believe otherwise, you will surely be missing out!

Over the Christmas Holiday, at 6 pm, at opening, I walked into this EMPTY bar with 2 friends. We (mature professional women) were followed by two people who knew us. We were told that 5 people could not come in together,. We sat apart. They refused to serve us. We asked why. There was no reasonl The manager refused to appear. After 15 minutes, with no explanation except that there is a sign that says only 4 people allowed in the bar (by then at least 10 people had shown up) we left, having never been served. I was ashamed for oiyr Japanese guest to go into a Japanese bar in NYC and be refused service.

Its a private, lounge bar and the atmoshpere is very elegant. Basically everyone I know thats been to the bar loves it. Its great for a date or for small groups, and the drinks are fabulous. One thing is that its pretty hard to get seats and there is usually a rule of 4 or less people. So I would recommend getting there early. The bartenders are excellent, all of them have a lot of experience especially the manager, Shin. I highly recommend everyone trying this bar at least once and you can't miss their huge painting above the bar. Not to mention the food is great and goes with the drinks well. (try the resturant next door also) One last thing, this bar was RANKED NO. 1 in ZAGAT which I think means a lot. If you don't try it you'll regret it.

Everyone's on their best behavior at Angel Share. The bartenders, waiters and patrons follow rules of etiquette that would make Emily Post proud. Don't waste the bartenders' talent here by oredering beer or wine, study the extensive drink menu and order a classic cocktail, then sit back and enjoy the show, as the bartenders here take a lot of pride in what they do.
