The dessert tapas are outstanding- done with a delicate hand but bursting with flavour. Friendly unobtrusive service. I will definitely be going back again and again.. Highly recommended !
Awesome Tapas Experience

My sister and I wanted to relive our adventures in Barcelona. Though they do not accept reservations, we were seated right away 7:45p on Friday. Must've come in at the perfect time because 10 minutes later, the place was packed. We have nine small plates and no alcohol despite the fact the place had a wine bar. I recommend: chorizo with tiger shrimp, the jamon con queso sandwich, the blood sausage and mushroom, egg in a blanket, serrano jamon, smoked salmon and caviar, and Spanish olive trio. I can't remember what the eighth dish was but I do remember thinking that the "pan con tomate" is not like the kind you'll find in Spain (but itÂ’s supposed to be Â“new styleÂ”). The first three dishes came out quickly but there was a lull between that and the next 3 - I might have just been super hungry though. The service was good. Even though I only ordered a diet coke and we both had water, the waitress kept coming back with glass bottles of water and to refill our cups. I really recommend this restaurant if you want a great, creative, & friendly tapas experience.
A place to breathe

I have been there twice in the past month with a friend. The first time was planned as I wanted something light as we planned on seeing a move afterwards, which turned out to be perfect. The wine list is truly unique the service is great and the food excellent. The atmosphere is what drew us back for the second visit as you can relax and breathe, even if it is crowded, it's still a nice quiet retreat from it all.

I've been to Carrera twice in less than a month. The combination of great tasting tapas, perfectly complemented by the right selection of wines and impecable service allows for one of the best tapas bar experience one can have. I definetely recommend this place!
small but fun atmosphere with great food and service!

Well the place is a bit small, a "hole in the wall" as my friend put it, but once inside and seated, you're in another world...the same friend said it reminded her exactly of barcelona. There are really only two or three cook-busperson-dishwasher people behind the bar, but he or she is quite adept and hyper-aware of what you have ordered and who your party is. The seating was a bit squished but it was still comfortable. The seating is in two bar-length rows, one at the bar, one by the wall, with a tiny aisle in-between for walking purposes. The music was interesting, a mix between world, salsa, latin, french lounge, and some techno? The conversation level was fine. We got the strawberry sangria (good a little weak), chilled almond shot (great!), pan con tomate (good), some chorizo plates (yum and definitely recommend), a strawberry pastry (extremely tasty), and a salmon and caviar (ok). Their wines and champagnes are great, we got cava rose. Great place and would definitely go back again!
Snug space; excellent eats

A friend and I decided to visit this place after reading the stellar review on NY Metro. The place is TINY, jam-packed full of people and you have to grab a seat if and when you can. After eagle-eyeing patrons for about 45 mins. and snagging two corner bar seats, we settled into a carafe of strawberry sangria and a few tasty tapas to start. The sangria was decent but those few tapas were so good, we ordered more! And then more! 9 total plus a "3 Shades of Chocolate" dessert dish! The requisite patatas bravas were crisp with a nice creamy mayonnaise sauce on the side. The pepper mousse stuffed peppers made your tastebuds tingle, literally! Fantastic goat cheese, pate, chorizo and tomato paste tapas--each one better than the last. The only one I wasn't crazy about was bread topped with imitation eels--you felt like you were gnoshing on worms! The decor is a bit industrial and staid, the music way too loud; ditto the conversation level. My dining companion had to repeat everything he said at least twice. But the tapas & wine selection are excellent and you cannot beat $3.50 a plate for some truly delectable eats.
