My wife & I were visiting NY for her 50th birthday. Generally service levels were good, with the exception of this place which gave us absolutely crap service. The waitress didn't seem to like the look of us and slammed down the drinks in a huff when she eventually got around to bringing them. We walked out of there after about 10 mins. I decided not to leave them any kind of tip on the credit slip - and guess what - on checking my CC receipts on my return discovered they had arbitrarily lobbed on 20%. So as well as shoddy service they're also a bunch of crooks. I have of course complained to my CC company who will be investigating whether they have undertaken sharp practice of this nature with other customers. Avoid like the plague - much much better bars and restaurants elsewhere.

I am Obsessed with there Bathrooms. Everytime I bring a new Friend to the restaurant I encourage them to go wash their hands and seeing their expression when they come back is priceless( Fun Bathrooms) I LOVE LOVE LOVE their GOLDEN GATE CAKE w/ extra Carmel! So Yummy- A MUST HAVE! I also love how most of their sandwiches are double stacked and who doesnt love Waffle Fries. Great spot to hang out with your Girl friends.

Yes.... I also arrived the first time because of the toilets. These toilets are different. Great burgers in a cool setting, with a great "dark rum Mojito". One of the most affordable places in SOHO. Go for it.

I love Bar 89 and have to get there at least once a month to get my fix. The burgers are great, so are the BLT, grilled cheese (with bacon) and the Country Cousin sandwich! They have recently expanded their menu to include several pork dishes, but have kept all the old favorites! Service is great and the drinks are supurb. The atmosphere is great, very airy and clean (for what used to be a parking garage)!

I just went there to have a drink and the Martinis are amazing: chocolate, apple, strawberry... they all are wonderful... Don't forget to stop by the bathrooms!

The food is only slightly expensive but it was surprisingly good. I don't drink though.

You'll feel like you have just stepped into a friends cooler than cool loft. Decor is understated and accessible (looks like nice stuff you'd have at home). The food is a wonderful surprize because it's not an uppity palette pleaser. It just well prepared American grill/bar food. Drinks are a heavy burden, but they pack a punch. Perfect for a low key night, but too pricy to go home 3 sheets.

Although this place had cool bathrooms, the only thing that keeps me coming back are the delicious eats. The portobello sandwich was to die for, and the wings are incredible. Be prepared to spend on drinks.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
