I am not sure why anyone would ever think that Bar Toto would be a great place to go to for the bar. Clearly it is not that type of establishment. Sure you can go have a drink or two, but this is not the place for that type of experience. It's a bistro styled place. And whereas the food might not be mind blowing overall, it is not bad by any means. The one thing you absolutely have to try at some point is the burgers. By far a top burger in Brooklyn by my accounts. I would put it up there with Dumont, though they are both good for different reasons. Bar Totos reason is the panini bread they use that never gets soggy and maintains a consistent texture the entire time. Is it me or does the bun or bread with a burger usually get in the way? Not here. The combo of meat and panini is what makes it a beautiful thing, and what will be moving me to go back.

in park slope, with hundreds of potential spots for a leisurely drink with friends, you might be tempted to try bar toto because of its charming appearance...but it would probably be best to give it a miss...it's less that impressive...sort of a non-entity compared to other spots in the slope...try barbes a few blocks down...now that's a place with a real european feel.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
