awful and unfriendly

I am new to the hood so I don't know about Hannah's. I can say I went to Barrage last night and not a single person spoke to me. I am generally considered to be a decent looking 33 year old guy and have no problem opening a conversation. Trying to open a conversation at Barrage is like breaking sea-ice with a loose veneer. And speaking of teeth, Barrage has its share of implants. The crowd is dominated by that nasty pushing-45 wannabe Ralph Lauren model crowd. Dresswise it is very Fire Island. Polo, pressed khakis, Rolex, fancy loafers. So don't show up here looking like a regular guy. Show up here looking like an advertisement for a regular guy. Drinks really weak and the bartender got my vodka wrong, it actually seemed deliberate but I could be wrong, he wasn't even looking at me when I ordered. Pedestrian beer selection. it's just uncool.

Finally a good Gay Bar in Hell's Kitchen.

Ok so it's not XL, but at least the Hell's Kitchen crowd can go out for an hour for a drink and check out hot boys w/o the need for a subway ride to the chelsea or village area. They can certainly use some new music selections to bring the mood to another level, but for now it works.

  • If it's helpful to compare one place to another, go for it.
  • Come up with clever, funny, pithy subject lines, and write in the first person.
