Was there for Manhattan Transfer and Sergio Mendez in Fall'02. When fully populated, it is very hard to enjoy the music. God forbid you show up late and take a fill-in seat after everyone else has staked out their "territory" - you will get cramps trying to see the performance. But the service, given the conditions, was outstanding. I would never intentionally go to the BN, unless the performance justified the agony. If you are in the area, and come across a night when the music is good, and it's not crowded, I would partake.

OK, my rating's a bit harsh, but this joint has no redeeming qualities...except for a well-kept men's room.

I've been to jazz clubs all over the world, and when I travel, it's the first thing I look up. If I ever get a place in New York it will be close to the Blue Note. The music is the best in the city - last year I saw Etta James, Chick Corea, Chris Botti, Arturo Sandoval.....where else can you see these people at a tiny place? If you love jazz, this is the place to be.

We went to an 8pm show and ate dinner with guests from out of town. The music was great - that's really what we went for - but the rest of the experience was almost an embarrassment. The service was poor - we felt like we were in a diner when dinner plates were slammed down in front of us - the food was average and definitely nothing special and the waitress treated us like anything we asked was too much trouble. I don't think we will take visitors again, and we definitely would not eat a meal there, especially when there are so many other great places close by.

These people at bluenote don't know what respect, decency and consideration is about. We went there on a weekend and ordered something. The stupid and bitchy waitress delayed more than usual to bring our order over; just a simple order, like about 45 mins or so. Last but not least, they charged us more than we expected and chased us all over the f..king! restaurant for only $2 or so, we were missing. They should be called the most expensive bastards of USA. Their service and their staff stink!!! Please don't go there!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
