I almost always use nymag before trying a place out, but this is my first time ever writing a review. I feel so strongly about this place that I had to register. I went there on a Friday evening for drinks. First of all, the outdoor area isn't even nice because it's fully surrounded by taller buildings. I ordered a drink off their cocktail menu and was seriously disappointed. The waitress kept running past us as we were trying to get her attention, something I could forgive if there weren't just 20 something people for 4+ waitresses. Finally, we told another waitress to call our server over and, thinking I couldn't go wrong with their signature drink, I ordered the Bookmark. It was so poorly made that I didn't drink more than a few sips. After waiting 20 minutes I had to go up to the bar to ask our waitress, who was just hanging out, for the check. Horrible drinks and unforgivable service. Cant imagine who would make this mistake twice.

This place is so cheesy, and dirty. I will never go back there, especially because of the attitudes of the employees there. If you want to go to a rooftop bar, go to Barna instead!

The people and the place were great. Try this place and the bar downstairs , 'Madison and Vine', you won't be dissappointed. Freddie

This is supposed to be a high-end bar, but my wine glass and my boyfriend's wine glass were both dirty! When we complained about it (we informed her of the problem and just asked for new drinks), the waitress was visibly annoyed and she gave us an attitude. Then it took her nearly 20 minutes to get us new drinks. I would never return. I understand if there is a spot on your glass, but it's the servers responsibility to rectify the mistake.

I must say, this is the first review I've ever written but when I saw some of the negative responses I simply HAD to add my two cents! I moved to New York two years ago but before that, I stayed in the Library Hotel quite regularly. Now that I live in the area I still frequent the bar two or three times a month. In fact, I proposed to my wife in the greenhouse last winter! Wonderful place, wonderful people! I informed the staff of my plans and they actually bought rose petals and closed the room off without me even asking. Yes it is slightly expensive, yes it can be crowded, but sometimes that's the price you pay for being the best!

This is a favorite spot for me and my girlfriends. The place is a bit crowded, yes, but the service is always fantastic and the drinks are great. The champagne infused cocktails are a must!

Came in recently on a tuesday after work, found the bar to be busy but well staffed with beautiful girls in black dresses with pearl necklaces. Once a table outside was availible we were moved outside. the place is very pretty with lots of flowers and very cool archetechture. its a very cozy rooftop with elegant service and no riff raff. if you are looking for a more upscale rooftop experience bookmarks is for you. its worth the prices. if you want to beat the crowds go after 8.

This is the best rooftop bar in the city- great cocktails and super friendly waitstaff. The views are incredible...this is one of my favorite spots in NYC

The space is pretty, but it's way too small. On top of that, the waitresses are terrible. The bartenders are great, but the bar is so cramped that you will need to use the waitress service. The service is slow, incompetent, and snobby. Why would anyone pay so much for a drink in a place with sub-par service? Anyway, this place is past its prime.

If you go for rooftop, there are very limited seats, so there is no chance you will be able to sit outside at peak hours. The inside seating/decor (also quite limited) is pretty basic for NYC, they did the minimum they could do to justify prices, which are very steep: 3 cocktails and one beer was $51 dollars - love that tax on drinks! Staff is completely disorganized - they'll be 6 hostesses swarming you when you arrive (to be sure you sit where they want you to), but good luck trying to get a drink off them. There are other rooftop/outdoor bars in the city that are much better return for your time and money. Note - photos on this website are outdated.
