What an unforgettable expierience! The hostess, Leigh-Anne Asked for my guest's names and then greeted them personally @ the door. How she knows who is with which party is still a Mystery to all of us but it set the tone for a wonderful evening!

After over a year and a half of refusing to go back to Brandy Library, I came in recently and was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by a new manager. Much more polite and genuinely welcoming, it definitely made the right first impression. When my fiance made the reservation, he mentioned that we were coming from dinner. The gentleman at the door remembered this and asked us if we enjoyed our meal. It's the small things like that that make a place memorable. He even advised us that if there was any room for desert, that we should try the eclairs. They were delicious. The atmosphere and the service were just as great as I had remembered.

I have never had anything but the most courteous service, sublime cocktails, and delectable treats at this one-of-a-kind place. Not great for large groups on a weekend, but with 5 or fewer, it's a wonderful destination for passing hours and hours. And I'm sorry mnmnyc, but wtf on the racist comments? Take it somewhere else.

I never post reviews to sites, but given that I had read several rough reviews of this place prior to selecting it, I thought a different perspective would be helpful - I found this place to be great. I held a surprise 30th birthday scotch tasting for my husband and 20 friends in the lower lounge of Brandy Library this past December. I was a little bit skeptical when I first met with the owner (Flavien) for the first time as some of the reviews of this place complain of a pretentious attitude, but my fears were eased once I met Flavien in person. He worked with me to put together a tasting event exactly as my husband would want it and was not only incredibly knowledgeable, but personable as well, keeping all guests laughing and interested during the tasting. Can't say enough good things about this place. Only issue is that it is a bit pricey compared to other places that offer tastings, but you really get what you pay for at Brandy Library. I would absolutely recommend this place to others for a tasting - best one you will find. Everyone I dealt with there made me feel welcome, so I would even go back for a casual drink with friends.

Yes, it is a touch pricey, but this may be the only truly sophisticated bar in Manhattan. I don't just mean pricey or full of eye candy but a relaxed, cordial yet sophisticated establishment. The staff REALLY know their liquor. The selection is Legion..even dating back to 19th century! The food and nibbles are divine (well the owner is French). A Great place to entertain, great for a date or a special celebration and ideal for an hour of your own company too. The measures are generous and the staff are warm and friendly. Just because a few 25 year old (now unemployed) Hedge-fund monkeys got asked to leave ad went home and wrote the other review, should not put you off. They will preserve the atmosphere at all costs. Pure class, now go study!

With seletions of rare american whiskeys you'll doubtfully find anywhere else like Wild Turkey's rich, lush and "out of print" American Spirit this place is amazing. Their master mixologist, served one of the best old fashioned this whiskey lover ever had at any price. Pricy but a cool, classy place to wow yourslef or a date. Lot's of great cognacs too if that's your thing. Only open after 4:00PM.

While the selection at the Brandy Library is undeniably good, the hospitality is inexcusably ungracious. There are other, more hospitable places to find MOST scotch. The rude bartenders can put a damper on an otherwise nice experience. Instead, go to Bar & Books for scotch or Pegu Club or Employees Only for cocktails.

I recently had the worst experience at Brandy Library, and although I have been several times in the past, I will never go back. I booked a table for a birthday party sat. night for 7 people, and was promised a table downstairs, and was told the bar would be accomodating with regards to how many people showed up. When we arrived, they instead seated us upstairs at a table that barely fit 4 people, saying that they had booked a private party downstairs. We never received any call from them informing us of this change. When our friends started showing up, we turned out to have a party of 9, since some people had brought friends, unexpectedly. We were immediately told that we had "exceeded our numbers" and that this was a problem. The manager was extremely rude and unaccomodating and basically asked our party to leave. I have never experienced such nasty and unacommodating behavior at any bar in NYC. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Food : appetizers size, bad and overpriced. Drinks : good selection but overpriced too. Service: rude !!!!! and offensive ( especially from those "New Delhi"-looking hosts and managers). Overall experience for your big $$$: very unpleasant!

First time and last time. mgr was impolite and started quoting house rules. I thought she could and should have been much more gracious. I guess you get what you pay for.. Shame though I really loved the atmosphere. Stay away
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
