Brandy Library was my absolute favorite place in the city but staff getting more pretentious everyday made this place unbearable. I'm not planing on visiting this place again for a long time.

Shockingly rude--—to call the manager pretentious would be too much of a compliment--—he is downright vile. This place deserves to fail miserably as an establishment.

Do not go to this place until they change the manager. This cheap suit wearing rude douche is on a high horse for no reason. Went with a party of six and they could not seat us even though there were hardly 7 people in the entire place. Great job man! Kick people out who are willing to drop a couple hundred bucks for overpriced drinks in a recession!! Where did the owner find this guy? He should be bagging groceries at Gristedes.

One of the worst nights out I've ever had. These people have no idea what service means. The staff (not to mention the Manager) are extremely rude and unhelpful. I’ve never felt this uncomfortable in a bar before, and will never go there again.

First time and last time. mgr was impolite and started quoting house rules. I thought she could and should have been much more gracious. I guess you get what you pay for.. Shame though I really loved the atmosphere. Stay away

Food : appetizers size, bad and overpriced. Drinks : good selection but overpriced too. Service: rude !!!!! and offensive ( especially from those "New Delhi"-looking hosts and managers). Overall experience for your big $$$: very unpleasant!

I recently had the worst experience at Brandy Library, and although I have been several times in the past, I will never go back. I booked a table for a birthday party sat. night for 7 people, and was promised a table downstairs, and was told the bar would be accomodating with regards to how many people showed up. When we arrived, they instead seated us upstairs at a table that barely fit 4 people, saying that they had booked a private party downstairs. We never received any call from them informing us of this change. When our friends started showing up, we turned out to have a party of 9, since some people had brought friends, unexpectedly. We were immediately told that we had "exceeded our numbers" and that this was a problem. The manager was extremely rude and unaccomodating and basically asked our party to leave. I have never experienced such nasty and unacommodating behavior at any bar in NYC. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

While the selection at the Brandy Library is undeniably good, the hospitality is inexcusably ungracious. There are other, more hospitable places to find MOST scotch. The rude bartenders can put a damper on an otherwise nice experience. Instead, go to Bar & Books for scotch or Pegu Club or Employees Only for cocktails.

With seletions of rare american whiskeys you'll doubtfully find anywhere else like Wild Turkey's rich, lush and "out of print" American Spirit this place is amazing. Their master mixologist, served one of the best old fashioned this whiskey lover ever had at any price. Pricy but a cool, classy place to wow yourslef or a date. Lot's of great cognacs too if that's your thing. Only open after 4:00PM.

Yes, it is a touch pricey, but this may be the only truly sophisticated bar in Manhattan. I don't just mean pricey or full of eye candy but a relaxed, cordial yet sophisticated establishment. The staff REALLY know their liquor. The selection is Legion..even dating back to 19th century! The food and nibbles are divine (well the owner is French). A Great place to entertain, great for a date or a special celebration and ideal for an hour of your own company too. The measures are generous and the staff are warm and friendly. Just because a few 25 year old (now unemployed) Hedge-fund monkeys got asked to leave ad went home and wrote the other review, should not put you off. They will preserve the atmosphere at all costs. Pure class, now go study!
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
