I would like to start out by stating that I love the beer that Brooklyn Brewery produces. This review is for the drinking experience at the brewery. I have been to a number of breweries, but if Brooklyn had been the first one there never would have been a second. I toured the old Pabst brewery in Milwaukee before they closed it down. Pabst was a classy experience compared to Brooklyn Brewery. If you want to wait in a long line to pay $5 or $10 for just under a pint of beer in a plastic cup, this is the place. The line was so long everyone in my group agreed we would buy two beers each to avoid waiting in the line again. Good luck finding a table in this crowded warehouse. The air in the warehouse has the scent of a frat house on a Sunday morning. Two of the tables next to us were playing quarters. I have read Garret Oliver's The Brewmaster's Table. I missed the section where he said his beer should be drunk as punishment. My wife went to the ladies room where she was greeted by the double whammy of men in the ladies room and girls throwing up on the floor. Within a few blocks of the brewery there are several fine bars that will sell you the same beer for a comparable price in a proper glass without the line, the fowl air, or the vomit.

I went here with a couple friends on a Sunday afternoon. The beer is cheap and the atmosphere is chill. If you are looking to do something during the weekend that does not require a lot of money I recommend going to Williamsburg. Check out McCarren Park, all the shops on Bedford Avenue and then hit up the Brewery. The beer is cold to perfection and you can also order pizza.

And eat first! The "tour" wasn't exactly a tour. You went into a room and listened to a woman talk over machinery for 30 minutes, which included talk of middle eastern peacekeepers and hostages being killed. In our experience, a tour must involve 2 or more rooms, and at least walking 20 ft. In one room is a bar, the other room has vats. there is no tour. no "tasting no "flights" although you buy chips for tastings but you are just buying beers. they need to work on their tour experience. and hearing most of their beer is brewed in utica new york is a little disappointing...

The beer at Brooklyn Brewery is fantastic--especially the IPA and the delicious seasonal pumpkin ale. And you can't find a better low-key hangout for you and your friends. You can even order in pizza (or other food) from one of the great restaurants nearby. Perfect. You've got to experience it for yourself!

Good hang out, bad beer. The beer tasted as if it were made that afternoon.
