After CafeBar's recent gut renovation, is CafeBar under new ownership? The interior, once intimate and funky, is now sterile and uninteresting. The menu is not as eclectic and much more expensive. The service was atrocious. I miss the casual atmosphere, the odd tableware and, above all, the richly diverse menu. Now it's just another overpriced, trendy, boring eatery.

I went to Cafe Bar in Astoria on a "first date" and it was perfect for it. You can sit at the bar inside, or you can go outside (when it's nice-if you can get a table) in the front or at a variety of different tables inside. The food was great, and our waiter's service was fantastic, though he was so busy with a billion tables it was hard to get a hold of him. The other waitress, IVANA, is absolutley beautiful and just as nice too! It's a great atmosphere, very friendly and mostly a younger crowd, 30 and under I'd say, but there were a couple of "older" people a well. I will definitely go again, for whatever-diner, brunch, etc.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
