Wow - poor service. Sat at a table where a woman waited over an hour and a half for a piece of fish. And it wasn't Moby Dick. It was the size of a small credit card holder. At most it would have taken 5 minutes to cook. After bringing it to the attention of the waitress 5 times you think someone would have been on it immediately. Nope. The manager actually came out and schooled this woman on how she needed to be patient and that it takes time when the restaurant is crowded. (huh?) In the meantime - all the tables around us that came in much, much later had their food and they were chowing down. It was weird that not one of them could admit a shortcoming. And instead of admitting it they chose to yell at this poor woman. Horrible-horrible service. Based on the disorganization alone I would never venture back. Just makes you feel awful when folks don't know how to behave with decency. And that's too bad because the show was sorta good.

I attended the Jolie Holland show at City Winery last Saturday. Overall, I had a wonderful time and it was a nice place to relax and have a few glasses of wine. The space does a good job of making the house feel packed but not crowded and making a big space feel cozy and intimate. The wine selection is great and the servers were very attentive. As for the food, do not plan to eat dinner here during a show. While the flatbreads were good, every other item on the menu was extremely small (and they say everything is meant to be shared). Avoid the polenta "coins" because by coins they mean dimes (or a euro cent). I would go back because it was a nice venue to hear music and relax but would make sure to eat somewhere else before and then spend my money on drinks.
