Without a Doubt a Great Slope Bar

Friendly and courteous staff, rockin' jukebox, nice folks...what more could you want? (Not necessarily a hookup joint, but hey, there's plenty of that elsewhere.)

Best Signboard In The City

Commonwealth has all the affectations of a great bar, from cheap drinks to outdoor seating (provided the weather's nice) to one of the best jukeboxes in the borough, city, or dare I say state. Bartenders serve everyone equally, for the most part, but have a dismissive attitude towards to more annoying and inconsiderate customers that sometimes plague Park Slope bars. If you're amiable and reasonably generous, you'll have no problems except figuring out which songs to spend your jukebox plays on.

I am the above-mentioned owner of Commonwealth and was saddened to read the words below from a disgruntled customer. I was not at the bar that night, but I heard about it from the bartenders. Sounds like at least one person was having a very bad day. I'm sorry that it happened. I assure the rest you that our staff does not generally attack people, physically or otherwise (no matter how tempting it might occasionally be); it's a friendly, mellow place. Obviously, it's in my interest to say nice things about the bar, but one person's bad night does not give a fair picture of the staff -- all of whom are my good friends. Check out reviews on other sites for some less-biased opinions, and then come see for yourself. I work Thursdays.
