The bouncer was completely rude to me and my group of friends. It all started off when we didn't get our i.d.'s out quick enough and by that I mean have them out a block away before we entered. He berated us for not having them in sight the mere second we walked to the front door. Demanding, "C'mon C'mon C'mon!" My friend with her tongue-in-cheek said, "I know we're sorry for holding up your line", in full knowing that there was no one behind or inside the bar besides some destitute bar fly. To that he reprimanded loudly with a chauvinistic manner (my company being all females) for us to be quicker in the exchange. My friend trying to be level with him lightly said I know how you feel I used to be a bouncer too. He replied, " well you sure don't look like a bouncer". I was so caught up in the moment that supposedly I grabbed it rudely, according to his account, that he hounded me inside stating angrily, "why you being so rude". When I didn't answer him he started to follow me and persist obsessively with the same question. Finally I gave him a straight answer, explaining that I didn't like how he mistreated my company. His reply to me was, "you're out"! I just have to laugh at this one. For the moment we stepped up to the door this guy was edging to start something. This was a bar I enjoyed to visit when I was in town and now I'm sad to say that I will no longer be a customer there... Just in case your wondering who it was, he bounces on Monday nights.

The cheap drinks are not worth going to this place. The staff is so undeniably rude, me and my friend were kicked out for simply dancing along to the music they were playing at the bar. We were not ridiculously drunk, nor causing any trouble, in fact there were a few others dancing. The owner or manager (whoever he was, he looked stupid) simply told the bouncer to escort us out, and he pushed us both all the way to the door, refusing us to go back inside. If we would not have been with other people, we probably would of had to leave without our stuff. It's an obviously pretentious place. I've also heard rumors that they've refused entry for "dress code" which is laughable because it is NO PLACE to be getting dressed up for. NEVER going back here.

Bouncer wouldn't let my two black friends in because their pants were "too baggy." Same pants as everybody else, obviously. Sad experience.

I recently visited Continental Bar to celebrate my bday after work with some co-workers and friends. I called ahead of time to make sure they could accommodate my party and I was told it would be fine. I arrived at around 6:30 with a small group and we were let right in. My group and I were having a great time, until I received a call from a friend of mine. She told me she was outside the bar with 3 other friends and they (the bar manager) were refusing to let them in. It was around 7:30pm on a Friday night and they told my friends that they were only letting regulars into the bar at that point. Four pillars of the community: an NYPD officer, a teacher, a war veteran and a nurse, four women of color, four lesbians. I went to the door to let them know they were with my party, and the bar manager informed me that it was the owners policy to not allow any non-regulars in after a certain point, and that I could take my party to a neighboring bar if I so choose. I myself am a veteran and I've never felt so utterly disrespected. Of course while I attempted to pull my party together to leave a few of my co-workers were let in with no problem and were not regulars. Needless to say, they were not of the same race or sexual orientation as the friends they refused entry to. As a side note, one of my male co-workers that is a black man, warned me earlier in the day that they were very racist at that bar as they'd refused admittance to him and a friends as well with no cause.

avoid at all costs. this place is most definately racist and sexist and whatevertheywant-ist. they didn't let one of my frends in once for wearing skinny jeans...??? they do whatever they want and are NOT nice about it. if you are lookin for a deal for cheap drinks, go to cheapshots, it's not that far from this place. on my birthday i brought a small group of friends here and not only did they not let us in (with no explanation) they were verbally abusing me and friends and assaulted my close friend. we had to get the cops involved and it was not a good site. DO NOT GO HERE.

A few friends recommended this bar because of the five shots for 10 dollars. We went in with a group of 15 people for my friend's birthday. I ordered a bud light and asked for a glass of water. No tap water is served at this bar you need to buy bottled water for $2. I have never had a hard time getting a glass of water from any bar in New York The staff also kept yelling at people to clear a path and would not let anyone stand in certain areas. Normally I would understand this but they were especially rude. My friend went out to make a phone call and was not allowed back in. We went out to see what the problem was and we were told by a very rude staff member that my friend was too drunk to be allowed in. To be honest he wasn't that drunk. We all decided to leave. Upon leaving we explained to the doorman that they had just lost our business. He explained that it was very tough to run a bar and that if I ever owned my own bar it would probably go under. I didn't know what to say so we left. While standing on the sidewalk we met 4 other very sober people that were also thrown out. There are so many other great bars in the area. DO NOT GO HERE!!!

The way they minorities here is beyond ridiculous. I went there with two other ladies, (we are all of mixed heritage) and showed the bouncer (who was black) our ids. We go in, sit down drink. laugh, etc. The bartender was very cool. A male friend (who was black) happened to be meeting us there. The bouncer asks what he's wearing. Confused, I say he's coming from work so he should be dressed appropriately. Our friend shows up in jeans, a shirt, a hat and has a backpack. The bouncer says he cant come in, despite the fact that there are about 5 other guys wearing the exact same thing. He then informs us of their competition called The 13th Step is around the corner and they dont have any BS rules. He also informs us that the owner would prefer that no minority men frequent his establishment. We were like what??? We will NEVER go there again. I'm still pissed they got some of our money.
